ABIQUIÚ WALKING TOURS
Led by Local Historians and Docents
Abiquiú is an area of immense historical and cultural accumulation. The same landscape that inspired Georgia O'Keeffe has been home to successive generations of inhabitants who have layered culture upon culture to create a diverse and thriving community. Led by local historians and docents, tours showcased the history of the village from its indigenous past to the present and included landmarks along the Old Spanish Trail, Santo Tomas Church designed by John Gaw Meem, the old Bodes store, and O’Keeffe’s long involvement with the village.
